Dancin’ Woofs Requirements and Screening
We are currently not starting new dogs in daycare.
In order for a dog to come to daycare, 4 steps need to be completed. When you dog is approved for daycare, we will set a start date.
Before your dog comes to play:
- Call for an interview in Bend, Oregon: (541) 312-3766
- An application form needs to be completed: Printable Application
Please fill out and bring with you to your interview, or send to: Dancin’ Woofs
63027 Lower Meadow Dr.
Bend, OR 97701
- Schedule an appointment to review application, read and sign additional paperwork and a temperament test for your dog (see screening process below). This initial consultation requires a one-time fee of $20.
- We need a copy of your dog’s vaccination records and recent fecal test.
If your dog comes once a week, it is suggested to keep to that day. This helps the dog’s comfort level with their dog buddies.
We do NOT offer drop in service:
We do not offer drop in service for dogs that are not current clients. Our focus is on providing a consistent environment for the dogs, as they are most comfortable with familiar dogs and staff. New dogs can take up to a full day to integrate into daycare so a long-term and consistent commitment is best.
Other Basic Requirements:
Age – 4 months or older.
Sex – Spayed/neutered at appropriate time.
Vaccinations – Bordetella, DHPP-Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, and rabies (at appropriate time). Titers are acceptable.
Health – All dogs must be in good health. A negative result on a recent fecal test is required.
Behavior – All dogs must be non-aggressive towards dogs and humans.
Days and hours – Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:30pm. (if you need an earlier drop off or later pick up, please ask about options)
Collars – All dogs must have a quick-release collar with id tag.
All dogs must pass a temperament test to assure that they are both dog and people-friendly. It is important for the health and safety of all concerned that the dogs attending daycare do not have aggressive tendencies, show excessive shyness, are food or toy possessive, are overly protective of territory, or are stressed easily in new situations.
At the screening appointment your dog will be tested for attitude and human handling. This includes all four paws being picked up, petting all over your dog’s body, a big restraint hug, teeth and ear check, and to see how comfortable your dog is with this kind of touch both physically and emotionally.
Dog-to-dog screening will occur the first morning that your dog comes to daycare. All new dogs should arrive between 7:30-8am (when we first open). Your dog will then be introduced to each dog one at a time. As the morning goes on they will then be introduced to 2, then 3, and so on, increasing the number of dogs with their comfort level. We work very carefully to ensure your dog's experience is comfortable and fun!
